SALONE LAFF FESTIVAL by Mastamind SL Ltd

(Welcome 2019 with a BIG LAUGHTER😂)
By Ibrahim Sorious Samura and Mohamed Muctar Sow

Stand up comedy has been redefined and further brought to the spotlight in Sierra Leone by the Mastamind (SL) Ltd and the Freetown Comedy Club. The art of humour has been bolstered overs the years thereby bringing Stand Up Comedy to the limelight. It draws from delivering intelligent jokes to mimicking and satirising society’s fate. Whatever it is, stand up comedy has stood tall with the following craftsmen: RICHIE OBAMA, OGA WORWOR, YEMATA, FACULTY AND KINDO ARMANI.

As 2018 ends in no time, the Mastamind group is putting ALL of the above Kings of Humour into one tiny house and one single night to laugh off your stress in 2018 and welcome 2019 with a Big Laughter on the 30th December 2018 at the Miatta Conference Center. Leave your sorry behind in 2018 and cross over to 2019 with a laughter.

Comedy as they say is essential in everyone’s life. Humour solves a lot life’s issues and these guys are comic doctors.

“Humour appears to help people’s psychological and physical well-being – for example, helping folks cope with stress and adversity.
But humour has physical benefits, too. Laughter – especially a hearty laugh – has been shown to benefit your circulation, lungs and muscles (especially those around the belly area). Humour also helps people deal with pain and physical adversity. Hollywood even made a movie, Patch Adams , about the benefits of humour in clinical settings.

Let’s not forget humor’s social benefits. Not surprisingly, funny people receive positive attention and admiration. … Most studies find humor to be a highly desirable attribute, which explains why the acronym GSOH (good sense of humor) finds its way into personal and online dating posts. Finally, humor smoothies potentially awkward social and cultural interactions. Think about how much easier an uncomfortable situation can be when you joke about it.” a Research on the Importance of Humour by Peter McGraw

And back home, “We can’t deny the fact that for the past 3 years in the entertainment history of Sierra Leone these brothers have thrilled and grilled audiences with nothing but gifted mastery of humor and with skilled delivery, throwing audiences into feats of convulsive laughter; trading away their sorrows for a breath of refreshing witty and sometimes educative jokes.” ~a summation to the artistic prowess of Sierra Leone’s topnotch stand up comedians by Lawyer Mohamed Muctar Sow, CEO of Mastamind (SL) Limited.

Now, meet

Richie Obama
A holder of a Certificate in Information Technology, IPAM – USL and a Bsc in Social Work – Fourah Bay College – USL. He is rich in humour. A jester extraordinaire. Richie told Salone Jamboree in 2017 how comedy has helped transformed his life since he started acting in his high school. He has held and hosted successful shows across Sierra Leone. Richie is one of the most sought after comedians in the country.

Oga Worwor
He earns a Bsc Hons in Business Administration from the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) USL. A natural rib cracker, Oga Worwor is known to make people laugh till they cry. He’s very crazy with his jokes and shake you off your seat with laughter.

Yemata
Yemata the Laughing Matter is an academic comedy guru, with a Diploma in Research and Cultural Studies, Degree in History and Sociology and a Masters in Diplomacy and International Relations from Fourah Bay College – USL. If it’s a laughing matter then it has to include Yemata. The Comedian with passion for education. He is one of the funniest characters you’ll ever meet. He always gives you something to think about when he drops his punchlines. He holds the record for pulling the biggest crowd at the Miatta Conference Centre in 2018 during his Salone for Laff Festival.

Faculty
Faculty holds a Diploma in Business Studies from the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology.
Of course another comedian that has outgrown everyone’s expectation in the shortest time is Faculty. He is known as the king of events comedy. If Faculty is not in your wedding, christening or dinner it’s a dull affair. His comedic delivery is often characterised by stupidity, hilarious imbecility and a sharp disconnection from reality. That’s he. He drives a nice car and change suits and shoes for every event.

Kindo Armani
Kindo gets a Diploma in History and African Studies, and B.A in Political Science, Fourah Bay College – USL. Kindo Armani is one you can safely call a success story after having two successive successful shows and appearing in several commercials and with brand ambassador endorsements with BBC Media Acton and Rokel Commercial Bank. He a multi awards winning comedian, including winning the 2018 National Entertainment Awaards (NEA) Best Stand Up Comedian. He has reached platinum in his art after hosting the 2018 NEA awards at the Bintumani International Auditorium last week. His proficiency and the professionalism he displayed in anchoring the NEA Awards makes him stands out in the stand up comedy in the country.

One of Sierra Leone’s most outstanding MCs – John Konteh, will be the Host of the SALONE LAFF FESTIVAL. Expect class.

You might have seen them killing shows and events but you’ve never seen them the way you’re about to see them on the same stage this year. For the first time in the history of Sierra Leone entertainment, Mastamind is bringing the very best in the comedy industry on the same on the 30th December 2018. Have a story to tell in 2019. Meet the experts in humour.

Don’t forget, humour is a therapy. Tickets are now limited at ZOOM Studio, 78 Dundas Street, Freetown.
