AS COMMISSIONS OF INQUIRY STARTS ON TUESDAY 29TH JANUARY 2019, PRESIDENT BIO DECLARES A WEEK AMNESTY

Following the criminal enterprising Governance by the then President Koroma and cohorts, a situation which the Chairman of the Government Transition Team referred to as Egregious, the president in his wisdom has given a week amnesty to all past officials who were involved in corruption to return the monies or properties before the commencement of the commissions on Tuesday 29 January this year.

While addressing the people of Kono, President Bio said he was declaring the amnesty in order to prove his critics who said the commissions were a witch hunt or rather just targeting certain political parties wrong.

This action by President Bio has been referred to by many as the most generous offer one can give a criminal. In December last year, Interpol agreed to order the arrest of all Sierra Leonean Fugitives staying out of the country who may deny facing the commissions.

Now that the commissions are about to start on the 29, many issues are unfolding from the main opposition APC party. The former Vice President Victor Bockarie Foh has assured the nation on a national Television of disclosing all the secrets of his former boss ( Ernest Koroma). It is yet unclear whether the commission will summon him as one of the witnesses against his former boss.

Just yesterday another strong man in the APC Alpha Khan sends a signal of dissatisfaction over the APC party. It is very clear that his next move will be in line with the former Vice President Foh.

Last year, a former flagbearer aspirant of the same APC made a voice recording in which he indicted his party of corruption, regionalism and violence.

KME SUPPORTS THE SIERRA LEONE PREMIER LEAGUE WITH AN OFFICIAL SONG

As momentum builds up to the first Nationwide League in four years, the Kabaka Multimedia & Entertainment (KME) – Sierra Leone’s best record label has released a song titled ‘PUSH SALONE FUTBOL BIFO’ in support of the forthcoming league. The Sierra Leone Premier League is due to resume on Sunday the 27th January 2019, with an opening match between East End Lions Vs Mighty Blackpool at the Siaka Stevens Stadium.

Football enthusiasts have been anticipating the return of the game which has been put on hold for four years. Thirteen (13) teams are participating in this year’s two-round league. The government has injected the sum of 2 Billion Leones for the commencement of the league.

Knowing the importance of football in nation building, the KME has shown solidarity with the Sierra Leone Premier League Board with a classic song, meant to be the official signature tune for the league. The CEO of KME – Lawyer Abu Bakarr Turay alias Kabaka has been supportive to national development. His record label was the only one to have done a FREE song to support the government’s Free Education initiative in 2018, which was rated as the best song done for the project.

The song (Push Salone Futbol Bifo) was produced by Solos Beat, recorded by KME All Stars (Rozzy, Kracktwist, Samza and Itribe), featuring a commentary by Abu Bakarr Kanu aka ABK. The song is currently on replay across the country and it is expected to be officially released during the Opening Ceremony later on Sunday 27th January, 2019 at the Siaka Stevens Stadium.

MARKMUDAY IS NO LONGER A KME (KABAKA MULTIMEDIA ENTERTAINMENT) ARTIST SAYS KABAKA

KABAKA CONFIRMS THAT MARKMUDAY IS NO LONGER A KME ARTIST

Sierra Leone’s multi talented Afro pop singer – Markmuday has been thrown out of the Kabaka Multimedia & Entertainment (KME). This was confirmed to Vertex Media by the CEO of KME, Lawyer Abu Bakarr Turay aka Kabaka. He told this media that the award winning artist was dismissed from the label but failed to state why. “Markmuday did not leave KME, I drove him out of KME for reasons best known to me,” Kabaka confirmed. Adding, “…He has been a good guy but we have rules and regulations at KME. He will remain my brother but not as my artist.” He further intimated this media that decision was taken in less than one week ago.

News of Markmuday leaving broke out on social media which left many music lovers in awe. Kabaka expressed his dissatisfaction on what he referred to as ‘malicious damage’ on a story published by Prezo Koroma which gave false premises on why he left. The story carried that most KME artists weren’t signed in ‘monetary terms’ and that they can leave when wish. However, Kabaka could not disclose the reason for dismissing the former vocalist of the label.

Markmuday has however dispelled rumours of him defecting the label. He told this media that the news was false and Prezo Koroma was unprofessional in reporting the news. When asked if he is still part of KME, he emphatically responded that he is a KME artist. Well, who is saying what?

Markmuday was signed to the country’s best label with couple of other artists a year ago. He was the label’s leading vocalist so far, with many awards in his shelf, including the 2018 SLeDU and NEA awards. KME fans will surely miss Markmuday if things remain the same.

Presently, there are nine artists under the KME record label. They include, Ragga Spice, Blezs, Kracktwist, Samza, Melinda Hudroge, Rozzy, MIC, iTribe and Future.

Fix Solution (SL) Ltd boosts the SLCS with the launch of the National Inmates Identity Management System (NIIMS) at Hill Valley Hotel

By Ibrahim Sorious Samura

As the drive to access justice deepens, the National Inmates Identity Management System (NIIMS) was launched at the Hill Valley Hotel in Freetown on the 15th January 2019. The ceremony was done in the presence of key government stakeholders, NGOs, civil society and the media.

The NIIMS is an integrated inmate and case management system that automated repetitive and rules-based processes. The system was developed and deployed by Fix Solution (SL) Ltd in partnership with the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) and the Justice Sector Coordination Office (JSCO), with funds from the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA). NIIMS is a bi-product of the company’s award winning product known as CrimeSync, a software developed to automate process and increase efficiency in the entire justice sector. It curbs the perennial challenges faced in the justice sector especially the prisons. Challenges of overcrowding, running costs, prisoners records management, are part of the focus of this new system. This is the biggest innovation ever introduced in the Correctional Service in Sierra Leone, since the enactment of the Sierra Leone Correctional Service Act in 2014.

The product is currently deployed at both the Male and Female Correctional Centres in Freetown (which account for over 50% of the prison population in the country), with expansion plans ongoing.

It’s now a global challenge for states to detain their prisoners using international best practices. The purpose of incarceration is not just for retribution but also for the rehabilitation of these offenders. Their human rights should be protected by the state. It is on this background that Fix Solution (SL) Ltd developed a system that weeds out these outstanding challenges the Prisons or Correctional Centres have been grappling with in Sierra Leone.

Present at the launch are the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Lahai Lawrence Leema, the Minister of State, Office of the Vice President, the Director of Prisons – Sanpha Bilo Koroma, Supreme Court Judge – Justice Browne-Mark, the OSIWA Country Head – Joe Pemagbi, CEO of Fix Solution – Sorieba Daffae, former AIG Morie Lengor (Chairman of the program), representative of the Justice Sector Coordinating Office (JSCO) and a host of state personalities.

Making his presentation, the CEO of Fix Solution – Sorieba Daffae explains how chaotic the justice sector was before the birth of CrimeSync. “The police is disconnected from the prisons, and the courts can’t understand what is going on in the prisons”, he stated. He continued that … “at Fix Solution, we want to bring order to the chaos of justice delivery.”

During his statement, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Lahai Lawrence Leema thanked Fix Solution team for what he referred to as “…the innovative development of this information packed software that is expected to provide a platform for information sharing among the justice and security sectors.” He also extends his government’s appreciation to donors and partners, as they help to compliment government’s effort in having an effective delivery of justice in the country.

The Director of SLCS, Mr. Sanpha Bilo Kamara highlights the several innovations the prisons have been going through since the transformation from Prisons to Correctional Service. They include improving in infrastructure, training programs for both inmates and prison personnel, the construction of the Bassa Town Prisons, etc, but maintains that his biggest legacy is the introduction of NIIMS which ‘…aims at providing information on biographic, demographic, social and medical status of inmates at the Correctional Centres in Freetown.’

“Finally Mr. Chairman, I will remiss in my duty if I fail to acknowledge our national expertise found in a small and credible organisation called Fix Solution, which is the implementing partner of this project. I have no doubt that this indigenous organisation, if encouraged and supported, will fill in the gap where international consultants would come in and fix our challenges in the instant, go back with costs implications if they are required to come back for reviews and repairs. But Fix Solution will always be around and summoned at short notice.” – Sanpha Bilo Koroma

The Chairman of the program, former Assistant Inspector General of Police and now Security Consultant in West Africa, Morie Lengor, louded Fix Solution and partners for introducing this innovative system in the Correctional Service. According to him, this helps accelerate service delivery and proper management of information relating to penal justice.

The ceremony was climaxed by a Press Conference for a Question and Answer session for the civil society and the media.

Kao Denero sent thugs to beat up another rapper named Madson

Three videos went viral on social media over the weekend where a rapper named Madson was beating ruthlessly by so called gang (thugs) sent by Kao Denero. According to the story, Kao Denero stated Madson insulted his mother and the president of Sierra Leone (Maada Bio) which caused the beating of Madson. In one of the videos Kao said he used to feed and look after Madson so why should he disrespect his mother. He was also filming Madson and asked his thugs not to stabbed (chuk) him but they should beat him.

There has been many videos, audios and talks by Sierra Leoneans condemning the act and behaviour by Kao Denero and his thugs and awaits action to be taken by the police and government in Sierra Lone. The most annoying part is, Kao Denero is boasting about the issue his social media page.  Follow I Rep Salone for more updates on the matter.
